Cherokee Rose the State Flower of Georgia

The Cherokee Rose is the state flower of Georgia. The Cherokee Rose (Rosa laevigata) is a rose native to southern China and Taiwan south to Laos and Vietnam. Settlers introduced the Cherokee Rose to the southeastern United States in about 1780. Since parts of the Southeastern United States have a similar climate, the the Cherokee Rose makes a low maintenance garden plant in the region.
